Westminster Abbey’s annual Civic Service was held on Sunday 8 July 2012

The Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, welcomed The Lord Mayor of Westminster and Deputy High Steward of the Abbey, Councillor Angela Harvey, and other City of Westminster councillors to Westminster Abbey for the Civic Service on Sunday 8th July.
The annual service marks the historic links between Westminster Abbey and the City of Westminster.
The Bidding was given by the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, Dean of Westminster, who also pronounced the Blessing. The Address was given by the Lord Mayor’s Chaplain, the Reverend Canon Christopher Tuckwell, Administrator, Westminster Cathedral.
Lessons were read by the Leader of Westminster City Council, Cllr Philippa Roe (Isaiah 60: 1-4, 11, 17-18, 22); and the Lord Mayor (St Luke 10: 25-37).
Prayers were led by the Reverend Dr Robert Reiss, Sub-Dean of Westminster and Canon Treasurer and were said by Sabrina van den Bos, a representative of the Bahá’i community; Misty Brewster of the Anglican community; Shaista Miah of the Muslim, community; Gurpreet Singh Arand and Rajinder Singh Bhasin of the Sikh community; Mary Maxwell of the Roman Catholic community; Liz Mendes da’Costa of the Jewish community, Vrindapati Dasa of the Hindu Community; and the Reverend Michael Macey, Minor Canon and Precentor of Westminster.
The service was sung by the Choir of Westminster Abbey conducted by the Organist and Master of the Choristers, James O’Donnell. The organ was played by Martin Ford, Assistant Organist. Music before the service was played by Andrej Kouznetsov, Organ Scholar.
