Christmas tree returns to North Green

A 25-foot illuminated Christmas tree now welcomes visitors to Westminster Abbey’s Great North Door and to St Margaret’s Church.

The tree on North Green was dedicated after Evensong on Monday 6th December 2010 by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall.

The tree’s pure white lights were then switched on by Mr Jamie Matheson, Executive Chairman of the private client investment management firm Brewin Dolphin Holdings plc who have provided it.

Trees were a traditional feature of North Green until the practice was discontinued a decade ago.

There will also be four Christmas trees in the Abbey church this year – two provided by Brewin Dolphin and the other two supplied, as usual, by Buckingham Palace from the royal estate at Sandringham.
