ANZAC Day
Friday, 25th April 2008
Australian and New Zealand expatriates and visitors packed the Abbey for the annual Anzac Day service which was also attended by HRH The Duke of Gloucester and HRH The Duke of Kent.
In his bidding the Dean, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, said that, in addition to Anzac soldiers who died at Gallipoli landings in April 1915, the service also celebrated the New Zealand Division’s victory at Gravenstafel during the Allied advance on Passchandaele in October 1917 and the liberation of Villers-Brettoneux on the Somme by Australian troops in April 1918.
