Unwind after hours and immerse yourself in an evening of hands-on crafts, fascinating stories and swing dance.

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to visit Westminster Abbey after hours this summer.

Join Swing Dance UK as they take over the garth garden and teach you how to swing and jive like they did in 1945. When you need to catch you breathe, take a seat with a drink from the bar, surrounded by beautiful Gothic architecture.

Inside the Abbey, hear stories about how people rebuilt their lives and communities after experiencing the horrors and destruction of war. Find moments of peace in the evening light as you look closer at memorials and create your own origami crane.

Beyond Victory season

This event is part of the Beyond Victory season. On VE - or Victory in Europe - Day in May 1945, Westminster Abbey hosted thanksgiving services every hour, welcoming an estimated 25,000 people. Join us this May and June as we unpack life beyond victory, with a season of events about rebuilding society and the legacy of conflict.
