Health, housing and human flourishing: Understanding organisms in the context of their environments

Westminster Abbey Institute hosts a panel discussion exploring the implications for health and housing policy of one of the most consequential recent developments in biology.

Professor Sonia Sultan’s ground-breaking research shows how organisms – including human organisms – develop and function in response to their environment. Her work exposing a ‘complex dance’ between genetic development and the environment provides scientific resources for the moral and spiritual task of nurturing human health and wellbeing.

As a new UK government sets out its policy agenda in the face of ongoing economic and health inequality, this interdisciplinary discussion could not be more timely. This event is part of the Abbey’s annual series of lectures and seminars, tonight under the banner of the One People Oration, established in 1966 by Dean Edward Carpenter, with an explicit intention to 'think not only of all Christian people but of all mankind.'
