In advance of the Holy Year, join us in the Abbey as His Excellency Chris Trott gives the Anglican Centre in Rome's Annual Friends' Lecture on Working Together and Walking Together - diplomacy and ecumenism in action.

About Chris Trott

His Excellency Chris Trott has been the British Ambassador to the Holy See since September 2021. He has been a British diplomat since 1991 serving in Sudan, South Sudan, Burma, Japan, Afghanistan, the South Pacific and Southern Africa. He has also worked as Deputy Head of the Human Rights department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. His full biography can be found here: Chris Trott - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

The British Embassy to the Holy See is responsible for maintaining and developing relations between the UK and the Holy See. The focus of the Embassy is working with the Holy See on the ethical dimension of foreign policy and global challenges; and the role of religion in world affairs.

About The Anglican Centre in Rome

The Anglican Centre in Rome was founded in 1966 and its mission is to develop and flourish the friendship and deeper understanding between the Anglican Communion and the Roman Catholic Church. It has sought to live the hope of Christian unity by being a presence, by encouraging conversation, by worship, hospitality and education by the exchange of gifts and by initiating and encouraging: communicating fresh ideas and best practice.

Entry & timings

Entry will be from 6.00pm at the Abbey's main Great West Doors and the lecture will commence at 6.15pm. There will be a short reception following the lecture. (Evensong precedes the lecture at 5pm and all are welcome to attend).

Access and security 

Please have your ticket ready to show our staff (either printed or on your mobile phone). 

​​On your arrival, your bag will be searched and we ask you not to bring any large items with you (for example suitcases, large backpacks or folding bicycles) as these will not be allowed inside and we are unable to store them for you.
