Christian Ker
In the north ambulatory of Westminster Abbey, near the tomb of Eleanor of Castile, is the grave of Christian Ker. The inscription reads:
Here lyes the body of Mrs Chrystian Ker, the most deservedly beloved wife of William Ker of Chatto Esq. in the county of Tiviotdale [Teviotdale] in Scotland, eldest daughter to Sir William Scott of Harden, Baronett in the said county. She departed this life upon the 16th day of May in ye 41st year of her age Anno Domini 1694.
Originally there was a white marble cartouche on the wall nearby, with the same inscription, but this was moved in the early 20th century to the Abbey triforium. This has a coat of arms and crest.
Her mother appears to have been Christian, daughter of Robert, 6th Lord Boyd. It is not known why she was buried in the Abbey, unless perhaps she had a house in Westminster.
