Using Westminster Abbey as a case study, develop pupils’ understanding of pilgrimages by looking in more detail at the significance of the Shrine of St Edward the Confessor. This lesson, designed the last one hour, also considers how pilgrims have identified themselves throughout history and the different ways they travel to pilgrimage sites.
