Overview

Discuss words and actions that demonstrate mutual respect with your class using this informative lesson and accompanying teacher's notes. Examine examples of respect throughout history before asking pupils to design a memorial for someone important to them as a sign of respect. This could be taught in isolation, in a series with the other British Values lessons or before a British Values guided tour at Westminster Abbey

Learning objectives

  • To be able to explain what mutual respect is
  • To understand examples of respect and disrespect throughout history
  • To think about mutual respect today by designing a memorial
