In the context of the news of Queen Elizabeth II’s death, this lesson looks at the key events in her life and identifying what makes a good monarch. By examining inscriptions of three historical tombs of monarchs within Westminster Abbey, pupils will reflect upon the way kings and queens from the past have been remembered. This lesson, designed to last one hour, culminates in writing a memorial verse about Queen Elizabeth II.
