• Grand Duchess Elizabeth

  A statue to this modern martyr, Grand Duchess Elizabeth of Hesse-Darmstadt, was unveiled in July 1998 and stands above the west entrance to Westminster Abbey.

• Thomas Sprat

  Dean, Priest/Minister and Poet

  Thomas Sprat, Dean of Westminster, is buried in St Nicholas’s chapel in Westminster Abbey. His son Thomas and wife Helen lie with him.

• John Conduitt

  Politician, Writer and Soldier

  At the west end of the nave is a monument to John Conduitt, politician. He is buried near Newton.

• President of France lays wreath at Grave of the Unknown Warrior

  The President of France, M. Nicholas Sarkozy, and Mme. Sarkozy visited the Abbey on 26th March to lay a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior during their state visit to the UK.

• Beauclerk family

  Sailor

  Several members of the family of Charles Beauclerk, Duke of St Albans are buried or commemorated in Westminster Abbey. Lord Aubrey Beauclerk has a monument.

• Thomas Whitney and family

  Thomas Whitney was buried at St Margaret's Westminster in 1637 but has no marker. Many of his children were baptised at the church.

• Edward II

  The coronation of Edward and Isabella took place in February 1308. In his coronation oath, he swore to uphold the laws of Edward the Confessor.

• Prince Eugene of Savoy

  Prince Eugene of Savoy was buried in the Duke of Ormond's vault at the eastern end of Henry VII's chapel, Westminster Abbey.

• Humphrey Salwey

  Politician

  Salwey was buried in the north ambulatory of Westminster Abbey in 1652. But his body was exhumed, with other followers of Oliver Cromwell, in 1661.

• George Sparrow

  In St Margaret's is a memorial tablet to George Sparrow, Government agent, and members of his family. Unfortunately this is now hidden behind the organ.

• Sir Richard Costain

  In St Margaret's Church Westminster is a window given in memory of Sir Richard Costain, industrialist and building contractor.

• Edward Woodroofe

  Edward Woodroofe was a mason and surveyor at Westminster Abbey. He was buried in the north cloister.

• Eleanor Worgan

  Eleanor, wife of organist and composer Dr John Worgan, was buried in the north choir aisle of Westminster Abbey.

  Soldier

  Colonel Christopher Teesdale and his eldest son are buried in the churchyard of St Margaret's Westminster.

  Elizabeth de Vere, Countess of Derby was buried in the chapel of St Nicholas in Westminster Abbey but has no marker.

  Politician

  Sir Thomas Langton, MP, was buried in St Margaret's Church Westminster in 1605 but he has no monument or marker.

• Chilean Navy honours Admiral Lord Cochrane

  Wreaths were laid by HE The Ambassador of Chile, Mrs Ximena Fuentes Torrijo, and by Vice Admiral Andrew Burns, representing the First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff.

  On Wednesday 9th April, St Peter's flag will be flown from St Margaret's tower to mark the 480th anniversary of its consecration of 9 April 1523.
