Elizabeth II
Queen Elizabeth II's coronation was held at Westminster Abbey on 2nd June 1953. Her wedding to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, took place in 1947. Her funeral was held on 19th September 2022.

In the north choir aisle of Westminster Abbey is a marble monument to Captain Philip de Sausmarez. The monument shows an oval medallion portrait.

A life sized (about six feet) white marble statue of actor John Philip Kemble stands in the chapel of St Andrew, Westminster Abbey.

Mary II
Mary and her husband William III were crowned as joint monarchs in 1689. A coronation chair was specially made for Mary's use. Their wax effigies can also be seen.

James II
James II was born on 14th October 1633. His coronation with his queen, Mary of Modena, took place at Westminster Abbey on 23rd April 1685.

The coronation of Edward and Isabella took place in February 1308. In his coronation oath, he swore to uphold the laws of Edward the Confessor.

Charles' coronation took place on 23rd April 1661. He was buried in the Abbey on 14th February 1685 in a vault in Henry VII's chapel.

Sir Philip Howard was buried in St John the Baptist's chapel on 15th April 1686. His name is inscribed on a modern stone.

Westminster Abbey sends condolences to His Majesty The King on the death of Queen Elizabeth II

The Dean of Westminster, The Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle OBE, has sent his condolences to His Majesty The King and the Royal Family upon the death of Queen Elizabeth II, on behalf of all at Westminster Abbey.

George II and Caroline
George II and Queen Caroline were crowned in the Abbey on 11th October 1727. They are buried next to each other in the Lady Chapel.

Richard II and Anne of Bohemia
Richard was crowned in Westminster Abbey on 16th July 1377 aged 10. He married Anne of Bohemia in January 1382 and both are buried in the Abbey. His portrait hangs in the nave.
