Happy ending for Brontë memorial in 85th anniversary year

The Brontë memorial in Westminster Abbey has been amended to include the diaereses (dots) over the ‘e’ of the names of the literary sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne, which have been missing from the memorial since its installation 85 years ago, following an approach from journalist and Brontë historian Sharon Wright.

Philippa Mohun, Duchess of York was buried in St Nicholas' chapel. Her altar tomb was originally in the centre of the chapel but was moved.

John Spottiswood, Archbishop of St Andrews, died in London of a fever and was buried with great pomp in the chapel of St Benedict.

Elizabeth I
Queen Elizabeth I, daughter of Henry VIII, was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 15th January 1559. Her large monument is in the Lady Chapel.

Edward the Confessor and Edith
Edward the Confessor was King from 1042 to 1066. He founded a monastery to St Peter, known as Westminster Abbey. His body still lies in his Shrine.
