Charles I was the second son of James I and was born on 19th November 1600. He was crowned in Westminster Abbey in February 1626.

In the west aisle of the north transept is a monument to Lt. General Joshua Guest. The monument was designed by Sir Robert Taylor.

Sir Joseph Williamson was buried on 14th October 1701 in the vault of the Duke of Richmond and Lennox in Henry VII's chapel.

John Coleman was buried in the north cloister and has a plain marble tablet. Catherine Coleman, presumed to be his widow, was buried near him.

In the west cloister is a memorial to the Czechoslovak forces who served in the Second World War. The plaque was designed by Franta Belsky.

The grave of Richard Courtenay, bishop of Norwich, was re-discovered in October 1953 in the chapel of St Edward the Confessor in Westminster Abbey.

General James Johnston is buried in the centre part of the nave. Only a small stone now marks his grave, near that of Thomas Telford.

Sir James Leith, army officer, is buried in the centre part of the nave. He died of yellow fever in Barbados on 16th October 1816.
