Laurence of Durham was Abbot of Westminster from about 1158. His effigy can still be seen in the south cloister of the Abbey.

In a window recess of the south aisle of the nave is a large monument of marble to the memory of Rear Admiral Richard Tyrrell.

On a window ledge in the north aisle of the nave is a memorial to John Gideon Loten, Governor of Batavia (Jakarta) who died 1789.
