Princess Margaret, daughter of George VI
Princess Margaret was the second daughter of King George VI and the sister of Queen Elizabeth II. She married at Westminster Abbey in 1960.

In the chapel of St Nicholas is the tomb of William Dudley, Bishop of Durham. The Purbeck marble altar tomb has lost the brass effigy.

The elaborate memorial to Katherine Palmer was originally on the wall of the west cloister, near her grave, but was taken down in the 1970s.

Ellen Bust, nee Griffith, was buried in the north cloister on 28th April 1697. A monument on the wall nearby was removed some time ago.

Colonel Achilles Preston died on 12th July 1764 aged 31 in the East Indies and his body was returned for burial in the south transept.

William Ryley, archivist and herald, was buried in the east cloister of Westminster Abbey on 25th July 1667 but he had no monument or gravestone.

Philanthropist
Mildred Cecil, Lady Burghley and her daughter Anne Vere, Countess of Oxford have a large monument in St Nicholas' chapel. Richard Cecil, Lord Burghley's father, is buried in St Margaret's Church.
