Abbey welcomes Pope Tawadros

His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Bishop of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark, was joined by the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, and other representatives of the Church of England, at Evensong at Westminster Abbey on Friday 12th May 2017.

In the north choir aisle of Westminster Abbey is the grave of the Reverend Howel Holland Edwards and his wife Caroline.

Charles Hall
Priest/Minister
In the north cloister is the grave of the Reverend Charles Hall. From 1761 he was Dean of Bocking in Essex.

Rebecca Folliott
The Honourable Rebecca Folliott was buried in the north ambulatory on 9th September 1697. She was a daughter of Henry, Lord Folliott of Ballyshannon, Ireland.

Medley family
In the south cloister is a gravestone to three members of the Medley family. The mother lived in New Peter Street, near the Abbey.

The President of Hungary visits Westminster Abbey

The President of the Republic of Hungary, HE János Áder, accompanied by Mrs Anita Herczeg, First Lady, visited Westminster Abbey on Tuesday 24th May and laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.

Abbey to light up red for 25th anniversary of Modern Martyrs

The Abbey’s west front will be floodlit in blood red as the sun goes down on the evening of Saturday 8th July to mark the eve of the 25th anniversary of the dedication of the modern martyrs.

Garret and Norton Fitzgerald
Garret Fitzgerald and his wife and family are buried in St Margaret's church and have a memorial. Norton Fitzgerald's tablet is now hidden from view.

William Bent and family
On the north wall of St Margaret's Westminster is a tablet to William Bent and family. Much of the inscription is now illegible.

Cornelius Van Dun
Soldier and Philanthropist
In St Margaret's is a painted stone bust to Cornelius Van Dun who died in 1577. His wife Gylbarte was also buried in the church.

Being an Abbey chorister is a unique musical and educational experience. Between the ages of 8-13 choristers enjoy an outstanding education at our Choir School.

A Sung Eucharist to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Ordination to the Priesthood of the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, was held at Westminster Abbey on Monday 4th July.
