The Venerable Tricia Hillas appointed to Racial Justice Commission

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York have announced the names of 11 Commission Members who will join Lord Boateng whose Chairmanship of the Commission was announced in July.

The Commission is an independent body bringing together a range of experience and expertise within and beyond the church to take action to identify, respond to, and root out systemic racism in the Church of England.

Members include specialists in areas such as Theology & Racial Justice; Ecclesiology & Liturgy; Formation & Theological Education and History & Politics.

Tricia Hillas was born in Kuala Lumpur to an Indian mother and a British father, and moved to the UK with her family in 1971. She was ordained in 2002 following a career as a youth and social worker, part of which she specialised in supporting those diagnosed with HIV and AIDS.

As well as a Canon of Westminster, Tricia is Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle. Previously, she was Canon Pastor at St Paul's Cathedral.
