President of Ireland lays wreath at Grave of the Unknown Warrior

The President of Ireland, His Excellency Michael D. Higgins, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Sabina Higgins, visited Westminster Abbey and laid a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior on Tuesday 8th April 2014.
The President, who was on a State Visit to the United Kingdom, was welcomed by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, and by members of the Chapter. The Dean escorted the President on a short tour of the Abbey. Mrs Higgins was accompanied by the Reverend Professor Vernon White, Canon Theologian.
During the tour the Dean presented members of the College of Westminster Abbey including Canon Christopher Tuckwell, administrator of Westminster (RC) Cathedral and the Reverend Martin Turner, Superintendent Minister of Methodist Central Hall Westminster.
In Henry VII’s Lady Chapel at the Abbey the Dean presented Hughie O’Donoghue, the artist who designed two stained glassed windows, the gift of Lord and Lady Harris of Peckham, to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of HM The Queen.
