London Mayors attend Edwardtide service

The Mayors of 25 London boroughs attended Evensong celebrating the Feast of the Dedication on Sunday 19th October at the close of the Abbey’s Edwardtide celebrations.

Every year Westminster Abbey commemorates the feast of one of its great Benefactors, St Edward the Confessor, whose Shrine is at the heart of the Abbey, with a week of celebrations in October.

The Mayors, including the Lord Mayor of Westminster Cllr Louise Hyams, processed through the Abbey at the start and close of Evensong.

The day before, Saturday 18th October, the Abbey hosted a National Pilgrimage to the Shrine of St Edward the Confessor. Pilgrims visited the Shrine and attended a lecture on St Edward’s life by the Abbey’s Canon Theologian, the Reverend Dr Nicholas Sagovsky.
