Farewell dinner for Archbishop of Canterbury

The Dean and Chapter of Westminster gave a dinner for the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dr Rowan Williams, Primate of All England and Metropolitan, and Mrs Williams in Jerusalem Chamber in the Deanery of Westminster Abbey on Friday 21st September 2012.

The dinner marked the forthcoming end of Dr Williams’ ten-year term as Archbishop of Canterbury following his decision to stand down and accept the appointment of Master of Magdalene College in the University of Cambridge.

The Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, said:

This was an expression of our thanks to God for the Archbishop’s ministry, in particular at the Abbey, and our appreciation of the warm relationship between Lambeth Palace and Westminster Abbey over the last ten years. We wished Dr Williams godspeed in his role as Master of Magdalene.
