Bishop of Rambsury consecrated

The Reverend Canon Dr Edward Condry, Canon Treasurer of Canterbury Cathedral, was ordained to the episcopate as the new Suffragan Bishop of Ramsbury in the Diocese of Salisbury by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dr Rowan Williams, Primate of All England and Metropolitan, and other bishops at a Eucharist in Westminster Abbey on Friday 21st September 2012.
The Bishop-designate of Rambsury took the Oath of Allegiance to The Queen’s Majesty and the Oath of Due Obedience to the Archbishop of Canterbury before the service in Jerusalem Chamber, part of the Abbey’s Deanery.
Dr Condry was presented for ordination by the Bishop of Dover and the Bishop of Salisbury.
During the Eucharist the sermon was given by the Reverend Dr A. Katherine Grieb, Professor of New Testament Virginia Theological Seminary, USA, and Six Preacher of Canterbury Cathedral.
Dr Stephen Johnson read Proverbs 3: 13-18, Sarah Condry read 2 Corinthians 4: 1-6 and the Reverend Canon Ralph Godsall read St Matthew 9: 9-13.
The service was sung by the Choir of Westminster Abbey conducted by James O’Donnell, Organist and Master of the Choristers. The organ was played by Robert Quinney, Sub Organist, and before the service by Martin Ford, Assistant Organist.
