Abbey to hold silent vigil for Synod debate

Westminster Abbey will be holding a vigil of prayer in the Abbey church from 7pm until 10pm on Monday 19th November, to prepare for the General Synod debate on women bishops which is likely to take place at Church House in the Abbey precincts the following day.

The hope is that people from all sides of the debate will attend the vigil and to pray together. We shall announce nearer the time the exact format of the vigil, but much of the time will be spent in silent prayer.

Westminster Abbey will not be giving permission for any silent or vocal demonstrations, or other gatherings, in Dean's Yard which adjoins Church House before, during or after the debate.
