Abbey hosts 6th Form Conference

The Dean & Chapter of Westminster hosted, for the first time, a Sixth Form Conference attended by 130 students from six schools on Monday 26 September.

The conference, with the title The Bible in English, was part of the celebrations at Westminster Abbey during the 400th anniversary year of the King James Bible.

The day began with a keynote address from the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, and was followed by workshops on ‘The Bible & Truth’ led by The Reverend Professor Vernon White, Canon Theologian of the Abbey; ‘The Bible & Ethics’ led by Dr Tim Gibson; ‘The Bible Expressed in Art’ led by Prof Michael Wheeler; ‘The Bible in Westminster Abbey’ led by The Reverend Dr Jamie Hawkey, Minor Canon and Sacrist of Westminster and The Venerable Dr Jane Hedges, Canon Steward of the Abbey; ’The Creation of an Art Wall’ led by Mr Christopher Clarke; and ‘Singing The Bible’ led by Mr James O’Donnell, the Abbey’s Organist and Master of The Choristers.

Each student attending was able to choose two of the workshops and at the end of the day to participate in a plenary/question session.
