Westminster Abbey Garden Tour
Take a stroll around the Abbey’s green spaces with the Abbey’s Head Gardener, Danny Britten.
Find out more about the various gardens and green spaces at Westminster Abbey, which formed an intrinsic part of the monastic layout and still flourish to this day in the heart of London, carefully tended by an enthusiastic horticultural team.
On this 60-minute tour you will see:
- Dean’s Yard, a green oasis tucked away within the Abbey’s precincts.
- Cloister Garth, with its memorial fountain commemorating Lancelot Capability Brown.
- College Garden, the country’s oldest cultivated garden, which was used in monastic times to grow food and medicinal herbs. Includes a visit to the Abbey’s beautiful greenhouse, dating from 1929.
- Little Cloister Garth, a tranquil space with a fountain, originally set aside for recouperation after illness.
- St Catherine’s Chapel Garden, created within the ruins of a chapel.

The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and there is a maximum of 15 people per tour.
The tour will meet at the Cloister Entrance in Dean’s Yard.
Some areas on this tour are stepped and not wheelchair accessible. Please consider this carefully when booking.
