William Kerr, Marquis of Lothian

William Kerr, 2nd Marquis of Lothian was buried in the Ormond vault at the eastern end of Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey on 6th March 1722. He has no monument but his name was added to the stone over the vault in the late 19th century.

He was the eldest son of Robert, 4th Earl and 1st Marquis of Lothian and his wife Lady Jean Campbell. In 1692 he succeeded his kinsman Robert Kerr as Lord Jedburgh, and his father as 2nd Marquis in 1703. He was a Knight of the Thistle and one of the representative peers in Scotland and also a major general in the army. His wife was Jean Campbell, sister of the 1st Duke of Argyll (and his first cousin). William was his only son, who succeeded him, and he had four daughters.
