The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) was a generous donor to the restoration of Henry VII's Lady Chapel at Westminster Abbey. The new weather vanes on the exterior pinnacles, with various Tudor emblems (such as the portcullis, falcon and greyhound) copied from the interior of this chapel, were presented in 1981. Carved on the east end of the stonework of the chapel is the inscription:

The sixteen weather vanes on this Chapel were given by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors to mark the centenary of its Royal Charter in 1981. The Dean and Chapter of Westminster records its deep gratitude to the Institution and to the other donors whose names are inscribed below the emblem on each vane. The wind goeth towards the south and turneth about unto the north. It whirleth about continually and the wind returneth again according to his circuits. Ecclesiastes 1, v.6
