Michael Wentworth

Michael Wentworth (called Myghell in the burial register), Member of Parliament for Midhurst in Sussex, was buried in St Margaret's church Westminster on 23rd October 1558. He has no marker or monument.

He was the second son of Thomas Wentworth of Wentworth Woodhouse in Yorkshire and his wife Beatrice (Woodruffe). His first wife was Isabella Whitley by whom he had three sons (Thomas, Michael and Henry) and five daughters. His second was Agnes, widow of Roger More and Thomas Curzon. He was Clerk of the Kitchen at the coronation of Anne Boleyn and Master of the Household and cofferer to Henry VIII. He owned a large house in Canon Row, Westminster and acquired the lands of Mendham Priory in Suffolk.
