Medley family

In the south cloister of Westminster Abbey is a gravestone to three members of the Medley family. The mother lived in New Peter Street, not far from the Abbey. As well as her son Edward who is buried with her she had a daughter Martha (who married a Mr Waldron and later a Mr Spice). Edward's sons were Edward (died 1814), Samuel, John, Charles, William, George and Henry and his daughters were Mary (Harris, later Bell), Harriett (Roe) and Charlotte (Vardon). The inscription reads:

Mrs Mary Medley who died 1 Sept. 1783 aged 61 years. Mr Edward Medley died 29th December 1808 aged 64 years. Also of Mary Medley his wife who died 7th Aug. 1821 aged 74 years.
