John Darcy
John Darcy died of quinsy on 6th and was buried in Westminster Abbey on 11th January 1689 (New Style) near one of the pews (so presumably in the Quire area) but the exact position is not known as he has no monument or marker. He was the eldest son of Conyers, Lord Darcy and Conyers (who after John's death succeeded as 2nd Earl of Holderness) and his wife Lady Frances Howard (daughter of Thomas, 1st Earl of Berkshire). The family had held lands in Lincolnshire since the time of William I. His baptism took place at Hornby in Yorkshire on 5th November 1659. His brother was Philip. At age 15, with his father's help, he abducted and married the 11 year old Bridget, daughter of Robert Sutton, 1st Lord Lexington. They had five sons, Robert succeeding as 3rd Earl of Holderness, and two daughters. He was a Lt. Colonel in the army and Member of Parliament for Richmond in Yorkshire.
