Harry Barker
The Reverend Dr Harry Barker was a prebendary of Westminster from 1716-1740 and is buried in the south transept of Westminster Abbey (near Dr Wetenhall's stone). The grave inscription has now worn away but it read:
Dr Harry Barker, prebendary of this Collegiate Church, died on he 5th day of September in the year of Our Lord 1740 aged 87
He was the son of the Reverend Joseph Barker, vicar of Sherborne in Dorset. After education at Oxford university he became rector of Rotherfield Greys in Oxfordshire. While at Westminster he lived in one of the houses abutting on the north side of the nave (these were demolished soon after his death). He was unmarried and his estate went to his servant, widow Lake Chapman and her family.
