Douglessa and Ambrosia Gorges

Lady Douglas (or Douglessa) Gorges and her daughter Ambrosia were buried in St Paul's chapel in Westminster Abbey but neither had any monument or gravestone. They were the first wife and a child of Sir Arthur Gorges (died 1625), poet. She was a daughter of Henry Howard, 2nd Viscount Bindon and married Arthur on 14th October 1584. She died on 13th August 1590. Ambrosia was born on 25th December 1588 and died on 11th October 1600. Sir Arthur married secondly Lady Elizabeth Clinton and was buried in Chelsea Old Church with her. There is a brass there to them and their eleven children.
