Daniel Collingwood
Colonel Daniel Collingwood was buried in an unknown location in Westminster Abbey on 9th April 1681. He was born about 1634, a son of Sir Robert Collingwood of Branton, governor of Holy Island, and his wife Margaret (Delaval). His ancestors had been in Northumberland since the 1400s. He was educated at Warkworth and Cambridge, became a Member of Parliament and had a commission in a troop of Guards. He succeeded his father as governor and was appointed Keeper of the Castle. He died unmarried. His brother was George and sister Barbara.
