Location - St Margaret's Church
John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost was published 350 years ago. Join us for this special lecture celebrating the anniversary, and shedding new light on the design of the Milton memorial window in St Margaret's Church.
Installed in 1888, the window depicts scenes from Paradise Lost as well as from the life of the poet, who married his second wife, Katherine Woodcock, in the church.
The event is organised in partnership with Milton’s Cottage – the only surviving residence of John Milton and the place where he completed the first edition of his masterpiece.
Speaker: Duncan Baxter – author, Paradise Lost: A Drama of Unintended Consequences
Tickets are free, but donations are gratefully received to support Paradise Maintain’d, a new endowment fund to protect and preserve Milton’s Cottage.
