Portrait of The Queen back on display
The Coronation Theatre: Portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ralph Heimans goes back on public display in the Chapter House today following conservation work to repair damage to the painting which took place last month. The painting will remain on display until Friday 27th September.

The Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall, welcomed The Lord Mayor of Westminster and Deputy High Steward of the Abbey, Councillor Sarah Richardson, and other City of Westminster councillors to Westminster Abbey for the Civic Service on Sunday 7th July.

Security at Westminster Abbey
The Abbey is experiencing a heightened threat to its security. It will be necessary to increase our security measures, and for the foreseeable future the bags of all those coming to the Abbey, both visitors and worshippers, will be searched before entry.

Westminster Abbey to unveil newly-commissioned stained glass windows in historic Lady Chapel
Westminster Abbey has announced plans to unveil two new stained glass windows in the magnificent Lady Chapel. The panels, each comprising more than 50 individual, handmade pieces of glass, will be installed in time for the service marking the 60th anniversary of the Coronation of HM The Queen in the Abbey on 4th June 2013.
