Seeking the Next Generation of Choristers

The Abbey is inviting boys aged 7-9 for a Chorister Experience on Saturday 4th March. The day will include a rehearsal with the Abbey boys, a special behind the scenes tour of the Abbey, and lunch in the Choir School. The climax of the day will be taking part in Choral Evensong alongside the professional singers of the Abbey Choir.

Organist and Master of the Choristers, James O’Donnell said:

This day is a wonderful opportunity to find out more about what it might be like to be an Abbey chorister. You don’t need to be an experienced singer when you start as a chorister. The Abbey provides all the training. We look for boys who enjoy singing and have a clear voice and a good ‘musical’ ear.

The Abbey’s Choir School is the only one in the UK which is dedicated solely to the education and care of its choristers. The school comprises 30 boys, aged 8-13, who live at the school and sing as choristers in the Choir, alongside their academic studies.
