Abbey previews Sir Terry Wogan service

A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life and Work of Sir Terry Wogan KBE DL will be held at Westminster Abbey at Noon today. The Abbey this morning publishes the full Order of Service.

The service will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 2, with coverage beginning in the Jeremy Vine programme at 11.30am.

The service will be conducted by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall. Speakers will include Ken Bruce, who will read W B Yeats’ The Song Of Wandering Aengus; Chris Evans, who will give a Tribute; and Joanna Lumley, who will read a new poem commissioned especially for the service.

Limerick-born Sir Terry, who died in January this year, had a 50-year career on radio and television, including presenting Wake up to Wogan on BBC Radio 2 and the Wogan chat show on BBC1. He was also the voice of Eurovision in the UK for many years and had been involved in the Children in Need appeal since it began in 1980.
