His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO attended a Commemoration of 400 Years of Relations between the United Kingdom and Japan at Westminster Abbey on Tuesday 2nd December 2014 at 6.00 pm.
The Ambassador of Japan to the Court of St James, His Excellency Keiichi Hayashi, also attended.
The service was conducted by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall.
HRH The Duke of Gloucester read Psalm 107: 23-30 and The Most Honourable The Marquess of Salisbury KCVO PC DL read St Matthew 8: 23-27.
The Address was given by Sir David Warren, Chairman of The Japan Society.
Prayers were led by the Reverend Christopher Stoltz, Minor Canon and Sacrist, and said by Professor Timon Screech, Co-Chairman Japan400; and Nicholas MacLean of Pennycross CMG, Co-Chairman of Japan400.
Haiku were read by Ffion Dash, Westminster School; Rikiya Yamamoto, Dulwich College; and Noah Moore, Newton Prep.
The organ was played by Martin Ford, Assistant Organist.
The Kosmos Ensemble also played.
