Richard Ingram, 5th Viscount Irvine

Richard (Rich) Ingram, 5th Viscount Irvine (or Irwin) was buried in a vault at the east end of Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey on 17th April 1721. He has no marker. He was the second son of Arthur, 3rd Viscount Irvine and his wife Isabel, daughter of John Machel, Member of Parliament for Horsham in Sussex. Richard succeeded his elder brother as Viscount in 1714. He had been governor of Hull and a colonel in the Guards and was appointed Governor of Barbados. But as he got ready to sail to the island he was taken ill with smallpox and died aged 34. His wife was Lady Anne Howard, daughter of Charles, 3rd Earl of Carlisle but they had no children. She was a poet. (His brother Arthur succeeded him in the title). 

His brother Charles was married in the Abbey on 9th March 1726 but is not buried here. He was the seventh son and was born 8th April 1696 and was a Colonel in the Foot Guards and also M.P. for Horsham. He died in 1748 surviving his wife. She was Elizabeth daughter of Charles Scarborough of Windsor who was groom of the bedchamber to Prince George of Denmark and a clerk of the Board of Green Cloth to Queen Anne. (Her first husband was Francis Brace, a commissioner for taxes). Their son Charles succeeded as 9th Viscount. Two daughters, Anne and Elizabeth-Arthur, were baptised in the Abbey in 1730 and 1734 respectively. Elizabeth's sister, Henrietta Maria Jenkinson, widow, married Charles Eversfield in the Abbey on 9th August 1731. (Her sister Ann married Henry Ingram 7th Viscount Irvine).

George Ingram, 8th Viscount Irvine was a prebendary of Westminster from 1724 to his death in 1763 and died unmarried.
