The Dean and Chapter of Westminster Abbey is delighted to announce that Peter Holder has been appointed Sub-Organist of Westminster Abbey in succession to Daniel Cook, who will be taking up the position of Master of the Choristers and Organist of Durham Cathedral in September 2017.

Peter has been Sub-Organist at St Paul’s Cathedral since 2014, before which he was Organ Scholar at Westminster Abbey from 2012 to 2014. He has previously held posts at St Alban’s Cathedral, the Royal Hospital Chelsea, and Southwell Minster. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London under David Titterington. He will take up his post at the Abbey in the autumn.

The Very Reverend Dr John Hall, the Dean of Westminster said:

Peter was an excellent Organ Scholar who stayed here for two years – itself a sign that he was doing very well. He moved onward to a senior position at St Paul’s and we are delighted to welcome him back as the Abbey’s Sub-Organist.
