Location - Poets' Corner
This event is part of an exclusive programme of talks, focusing on notable people buried in the Abbey, for members of the Westminster Abbey Association.
What led Samuel Johnson to become one of the greatest authors of the 18th century and the Father of the Dictionary? What made him the ideal choice for the job? And why did his friends not want to lend him volumes from their own libraries? Join Celine Luppo McDaid, Curator of Dr. Johnson’s House, to explore the influence books had on Johnson, and how they shaped his life.
In addition to the talk, tickets holders to this event can take a private tour of the Abbey and attend a wine reception with the speaker.
Tickets are £25 (plus a £1.87 booking fee per ticket) and are only available to members of the Westminster Abbey Association and their guests.
Associates can book up to four tickets per membership.
