Meet a Priest
Workshop for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students
Put your questions on Christian teaching and moral, ethical and social issues to a member of the clergy. Can be combined with any RE or Religion and Public Life tour of the Abbey.
Cost: £5 per pupil (includes a tour of the Abbey)
Recommended start times: 10.00 am and 12.45 pm
Icons
Workshop for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students
Join icon writer Reverend Regan O’Callaghan for a practical class exploring the rich tradition of icon writing. Using egg tempura, pigments and gold leaf, students will create a beautiful icon and learn about the symbolism of this ancient form of worship. Session is dependent on the availability of Father Regan, so please be flexible when suggesting dates.
Cost: £5 per pupil (includes a tour of the Abbey)

Abbey Through Time
Tour for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students
See the highlights of the Abbey including the Coronation Chair, the Unknown Warrior and the beautiful Lady Chapel.

Christian Symbols of Life and Worship
Tour for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students
Explore how symbols help Christians to worship in the Abbey and live the Christian life. This tour looks at how symbolic objects, actions, words and images are used in baptism, marriage and funerals and considers the importance of these rites of passage for Christians.

Pilgrimage
Tour for KS3 and KS4 students
Why have people come to the Abbey as pilgrims for nearly a thousand years? Find out about the Shrine of Saint Edward the Confessor in the past and today, and consider what pilgrimage means to Christians and offers to all.

Religion & Science
Tour for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students
Some of the greatest, and most controversial, scientists are buried or remembered at Westminster Abbey. This tour explores the 21st century binary of science and religion and asks if it was always and will always be thus.

Religion in Public Life
Tour for KS4 and KS5 students
Consider what Britain as a ‘Christian Country’ means in the Coronation Church, where Benedictine values of hospitality, mutual respect and tolerance shape a continuing contribution to contemporary society. Additional ‘Meet a Priest’ workshop recommended.

See where Parliament met in medieval times and explore the historical and contemporary links between the Abbey and the Houses of Parliament.

Tour for KS3 students
Democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, respect and tolerance – with a dose of wonder! Find out how Westminster Abbey underpins and upholds core British values.
